Slafkovsky scored his second goal of the game with 4:33 remaining, tying the score and setting up captain Nick Suzuki for the game-tying goal just minutes later. The Slovakian forward's performance, including a crucial assist and a late goal, was pivotal in Montreal's resurgence.

The Kings, playing without retired captain Anze Kopitar's usual offensive spark, fell short after a strong start. Kopitar, who opened the scoring with his seventh goal of the season, ended a 21-game goal drought.

The game also marked a somewhat awkward return for Phillip Danault, who was traded from Los Angeles to Montreal in December. Danault received a cool reception from the home crowd, a stark contrast to his four successful seasons with the Kings.

This win provides a much-needed boost for the Canadiens, who are looking to build momentum after a challenging road trip. The Kings, meanwhile, continue to struggle, having lost seven of their last nine games.

Jakub Dobes turned in a standout performance in net for Montreal, stopping 35 of 38 shots. For the Kings, Darcy Kuemper faced a barrage of shots, stopping 19.

The Canadiens will now host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday, while the Kings head to Columbus for a Monday night game.

The Canadiens' ability to mount comebacks, however, reveals a fragility that will be tested repeatedly as the season progresses.
