Late surge propels lafc to victory over houston dynamo

Los Angeles FC extended their winning streak to four matches with a 2-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo on Saturday night, a result complicated by two red cards for the Dynamo and a masterful performance from goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Mark Delgado and Son Heung-Min were instrumental in LAFC's second consecutive clean sheet to begin the MLS season. Delgado scored in the 56th minute, assisted by Son and Denis Bouanga, while Lloris made two saves to secure the shutout. The Dynamo, already facing a difficult task after Antônio Carlos's early red card, saw their woes compounded by Agustín Bouzat's dismissal in the 82nd minute.

Delgado's goal was his 26th in 345 career appearances. Bouanga's second assist of the season gives him 22 in 103 career games, although he's yet to score against Houston. Stephen Eustáquio scored his first league goal for LAFC in the 82nd minute, effectively sealing the win. Son’s assist was his third of the year, bringing his career total to six in 12 appearances. Lloris, in his second straight clean sheet, has yet to allow a goal this season.

This victory marks LAFC’s first win in Houston since July 12, 2019, and extends their lead in the series to 8-5-5. Coach Marc Dos Santos has the team off to a blistering 4-0 start across all competitions, building on a dominant CONCACAF Champions Cup run. The Dynamo, coming off a 2-1 win against Chicago Fire, were unable to capitalize on their numerical advantage. Jonathan Bond made four saves for Houston.

LAFC’s next challenge is a home match against FC Dallas this Saturday. Houston will travel to face the New England Revolution.
