For the Blue Jackets, the game highlighted the burgeoning talent of defenseman Zach Werenski, who recorded a pair of assists, extending his points streak to nine games – the longest by a Columbus defenseman in a decade. Werenski, already a top point producer with 65 points this season, now stands as the fifth-fastest active defenseman to reach 100 career points. The Blue Jackets’ acquisition of Marchment has also yielded immediate results; the forward has reached 10 goals in just 16 games since being traded from Seattle.
