Acquired from Washington in the offseason, Gore's performance marked a strong start to his tenure with the Rangers. The 27-year-old lefty's bid for a no-hitter was broken up by a leadoff single in the sixth, but he still managed to fan Bryce Harper with the bases loaded and left the game after plunking Alec Bohm. The Rangers took two of three from the NL East champion Phillies.

Brandon Nimmo and Andrew McCutchen, both in their first seasons with Texas, homered to lead the Rangers' offense. Nimmo took Phillies starter Jesús Luzardo deep for a two-run shot in the second, while McCutchen hit a three-run homer in the fourth for a 5-0 lead.

The Rangers now head to Baltimore to open a new series on Monday, with right-hander Jack Leiter set to face the Orioles.
