Ghebry Figueroa, 37, of Prospect Heights, was arrested Tuesday and charged with knowingly operating a vehicle with a revoked license and causing great bodily harm. He also faces charges for operating a commercial motor vehicle while disqualified.
The incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. on Sunday when the bus, carrying 54 passengers en route from Chicago to a Michigan casino, exited northbound I-43 onto North Webster Avenue. The vehicle then crossed the roadway and left the road, overturning on an embankment.
Initial reports indicated 33 injuries, but the number has since climbed to 41. Passengers were transported to local hospitals or a reunification center set up at The Salvation Army Kroc Community Center.
