However, Newcastle's defensive resilience was ultimately breached when they failed to deal with Olmo's movement, allowing him to win the free-kick that led to Yamal's decisive strike.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe was pleased with his side's efforts but lamented the defensive lapse that cost them the win.
