American sprinter ja'kobe tharp shatters 110m hurdles world record

Ja'Kobe Tharp, an American track and field athlete, made history at the NCAA outdoor championships in Eugene, Oregon, when he shattered the 110m hurdles world record with a blistering time of 12.75 seconds.

Tharp's record-breaking performance leaves rivals in awe

The 20-year-old Auburn University standout, who came into the meet with a personal best of 13.01 seconds, stunned spectators by outpacing the previous world mark of 12.80 set by Olympic champion Aries Merritt in 2012.

Tharp's incredible feat, achieved with a legal 1.0m/s tailwind, also eclipsed Grant Holloway's NCAA record of 12.98 set in 2019. This marks the first world record to be set at an NCAA championships since 1976, when Dwight Stones set a record in the high jump.

In a post-race interview, Tharp admitted he didn't expect to achieve such a remarkable time.
