Fort worth 'cash cartier' sentenced: decades for abuse, deception

Kaleb Mickens, the Fort Worth man who cultivated a lavish online persona as “Cash Cartier,” faces a staggering 55-year prison sentence after admitting to brutally assaulting a woman whose death he initially attempted to conceal by blaming his dog. The verdict, handed down Monday, exposes a chilling contrast between the carefully constructed image of wealth and influence Mickens projected and the reality of a pattern of violence spanning years and multiple relationships.

A web of manipulation and abuse

Mickens, 34, pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated assault-family violence in connection with the death of Sheila Cuevas on October 8, 2023. The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office revealed a disturbing history of abuse against numerous women, each of whom had been involved in a relationship with Mickens. During a courtroom hearing packed with observers, the victims courageously recounted years of manipulation, torture, and sexual assault, their testimonies painting a harrowing picture of Mickens’ predatory behavior.

“There can be no justice that brings Sheila back,” Cuevas’ brother stated, addressing Mickens directly, “but there can be outcomes, and there can be accountability, and you deserve this.
