Ride-share driver charged with multiple assaults – authorities urge further reporting
A 29-year-old man in Brisbane has been charged with a disturbing pattern of sexual assault and stalking after police uncovered a series of alleged incidents targeting women using ride-share services.
Multiple victims targeted in elaborate stalking campaign
Authorities are appealing to potential victims to come forward as investigators piece together a disturbing narrative involving a man who allegedly used ride-share apps to systematically stalk and assault women between 2020 and 2025. The initial accusation stems from a reported sexual assault in July 2025, following a ride-share journey home. Subsequent investigations revealed a network of unsettling encounters.
Police executed a search warrant at the man’s residence in the northwest of Brisbane on November 17th, seizing crucial digital evidence – mobile phones and a laptop – fueling the breadth of the investigation. The man, described as 170cm tall with a tanned complexion and distinctive tattoos, is currently out on bail under strict conditions, his next court appearance scheduled for April 17th.
A cascade of allegations
The case began with a 27-year-old woman who reported being approached by the driver following a ride-share trip in mid-2025. This quickly escalated into a short-term relationship, which abruptly ended with a home invasion and sexual assault on July 20, 2025. Further investigation uncovered earlier incidents: a 21-year-old woman, using the same ride-share car on November 1, 2024, allegedly received threatening messages and received unwanted visits. Then, in November 2020, a 20-year-old woman reported a relationship with the same individual that quickly devolved into assault and phone intrusion, punctuated by persistent, unwanted visits to her home.
Sen Sgt Robert Lowry stated that the authorities believe these incidents represent only a portion of the potential harm caused by this individual. “From the information that we’ve got, there probably are other women out there that have experienced this behavior by this driver,” he told reporters. “We are getting some calls coming into the office about similar instances, which we’re investigating.”
