A statutory inquiry has accused the UK government of failing to adopt all the changes recommended to prevent child sexual abuse, alleging that this has allowed the abuse to continue.

The Maggie Oliver Foundation claims the government's inconsistent approach to implementing the recommendations of the independent inquiry into child sexual abuse (IICSA) has led to thousands of preventable cases of abuse and exploitation.

According to the foundation, 17 out of 20 IICSA recommendations have not been implemented, including measures to record the age, ethnicity, religion and occupation of perpetrators, end the use of pain-inducing restraints on children in custody, and ensure those in care have greater access to justice.
