Serbia finds explosives near pipeline, raising suspicions of russian provocation

A discovery of explosives near a key gas pipeline in Serbia has sparked concerns of a Russian provocation aimed at influencing Hungary's upcoming election.

Experts doubt sabotage attempt

Former Ukrainian Major General Mykola Zentsev, a munitions specialist, told The Guardian that the 4kg of explosives found by Serbia's military security agency would not have been enough to seriously damage the pipeline, used to transport Russian gas to Hungary.

Zentsev, of the company Andromeda, analyzed the steel and polypropylene connection and calculated that far more explosive material would be needed to cause significant damage, let alone shut down the pipeline for an extended period.
