Michigan man faces years behind bars after home invasion shooting

Brendan Wilson, a 25-year-old from Highland Park, Michigan, is likely facing a significant prison sentence after pleading no contest to eight felonies Tuesday in Macomb County. The charges stem from an October 2024 incident involving a home invasion, a firearm, and an encounter with Center Line police that escalated dangerously.

A series of decisions leading to serious consequences

The incident unfolded on October 12th when police responded to a reported break-in in Center Line. Officers spotted Wilson fleeing a residence with what prosecutors described as an AK-style weapon. What followed was a sequence of increasingly perilous actions: Wilson allegedly attempted to evade police, crashing his vehicle into a patrol car before discharging shots towards an officer. Warren police subsequently took him into custody.

While the prosecution initially sought charges including malicious destruction of police property and driving with a suspended license, those were ultimately dismissed as part of Wilson’s plea agreement. He now faces assault with intent to murder, third-degree fleeing and eluding, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, assault with a dangerous weapon, and four counts of felony firearm.
