La police boosts ventura boulevard patrols after spate of home burglaries

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced a beefed-up police presence along Ventura Boulevard in the San Fernando Valley, following a string of residential break-ins in the past week.

Increased patrols and tech to combat burglaries

Officers will expand their visibility by positioning LAPD vehicles in high-profile areas and deploying license plate readers in crime-hotspots, according to Bass.

Senior lead officers will also engage more closely with the local community, amplifying the LAPD's commitment to tackling the recent surge in burglaries, which Bass vowed to address with 'zero tolerance'. The safety and security of Angelenos, she emphasized, 'is my number one priority'. Seven burglaries have been reported in the North Hollywood Division since last Friday alone.

Metropolitan, Commercial Crimes and Robbery-Homicide divisions will collaborate with detectives in the area to crack the cases, with weekly meetings to dissect burglary trends and develop further response strategies.

In a statement, Bass emphasized that the City will 'continue to deploy the resources necessary to keep people safe', pointing out that while there have been 156 burglaries investigated in the North Hollywood Division so far this year (a 45% decrease from the same period in 2025), the recent spate underscores the need for vigilance.
