The five sets of twins range in age from 12 days to 13 weeks old, with a mix of seven boys and three girls, including one brother-sister pair. Hospital officials note that twins are more likely to be born prematurely than single births, with over half of all twin pregnancies resulting in preterm births.

While the NICU staff often care for twins, this current surge has put a strain on resources and requires even more specialized attention from the medical team. The first set of twins is expected to be discharged early this week, but the hospital's NICU will likely remain busy for the foreseeable future as it continues to provide critical care to fragile newborns.
