According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred around 12:45 a.m. Sunday when the pair, both riding high-performance motorcycles, failed to navigate a curve in the road. Their vehicles Careened off the left side of the highway, ejecting both riders in the process.

Robyn Gonzalez, a San Diego resident, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Cal Fire. Her 57-year-old riding partner, a Springs Valley resident, sustained minor injuries and was hospitalized.

As investigators work to determine the cause of the accident, the tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the inherent risks and dangers inherent to high-speed motorcycling.
