Community rallies for beloved keego harbor bartender kris baker after stroke

Keego Harbor, MI, is coming together to support one of its most cherished residents, Kris Baker, a single mom and beloved bartender who suffered a devastating stroke at her workplace.

Outpouring of support for baker, a staple in the community

Forty-year-old Baker, who has been a fixture at B1 Tavern, suddenly found herself fighting for her life when a blood clot caused a debilitating stroke. Paralyzed on her left side, the recovering mother faces a long and costly road to rehabilitation.

Fundraiser coordinator Heather Zuniga, a fellow single mom and local bartender, is spearheading the community's effort to help Baker and her daughter, Riley, navigate the financial burdens of medical care. 'As a parent, it's terrifying because it could happen to any of us, and you know a lot of us are struggling right now,' Zuniga said.

The fundraiser, set for May 9 at Brewhaus Bar and Grill, will feature parking lot games, a DJ, and a 50-50 raffle. Regulars have already shown immense support, and future events are planned to aid Baker's recovery.

A GoFundMe page has been established for the community's beloved local and mom. The Keego Harbor community continues to rally around Baker, demonstrating the power of neighbors coming together in times of need.
