Ruben Flores, proprietor of a local establishment, voiced a sentiment echoed by many: “It’s a gut punch. Forest Avenue wasn’t just a street; it was a living postcard, a romantic backdrop. Now, it’s…gone. Reduced to concrete and a hastily planned walkway.”

City officials claim the removal was driven by safety concerns – a recent eucalyptus fall prompted immediate action. However, residents paint a different picture: a panicked response, executed without proper consultation, and fueled by a desire to expedite the promenade project.
