Eddie mcguire & karl stefanovic join forces in arn's battle against kyle & jackie o lawsuits

ARN Media has poached two of Nine's biggest names, Eddie McGuire and Karl Stefanovic, in a desperate bid to survive the $160m in lawsuits stemming from the Kyle and Jackie O Show's raunchy content.

The duo will host a new multi-platform show, The Long Weekend, live on all Gold stations and streamed on Nine's 9Now and Stan platforms. ARN lost $22m in revenue as companies pulled ads from Kyle and Jackie O Show due to its explicit content.

McGuire and Stefanovic will cover news, sport, and entertainment, with a focus on opinion, energy, and perspective. Their three-hour show will air on Fridays from 19 June between midday and 3pm.

ARN's strategy appears to be working, as The Long Weekend is set to be the first Australian-produced audio and video format distributed across broadcast radio, live radio streaming, podcast, social media, free-to-air streaming, and global distribution via the iHeart network.

McGuire's production company will also produce a sport podcast for iHeart. With Stefanovic's unique ability to connect with Australian audiences and McGuire's broadcasting prowess, the pair are poised to bring a fresh dynamic to the radio landscape.
