Brian Moreland, the Tony Award-nominated producer, is bringing August Wilson's Joe Turner's Come and Gone to the Broadway stage, marking his third production at the historic Barrymore Theatre.

Moreland's passion for theater began at a young age

Moreland's love for theater started when his third-grade teacher asked his mother if he could be in the school play. From then on, his obsession with the arts only grew.

A pioneer in the industry

As one of the few Black producers working on Broadway, Moreland is proud to carry on the legacy of Robert Cole, who became the first Black producer on the Great White Way in 1898.

Moreland's latest production, Joe Turner's Come and Gone, stars Taraji P. Henson in her Broadway debut as Bertha, with Cedric the Entertainer as Seth and Debbie Allen directing.

The producer's role: more than just signing checks

As lead producer, Moreland's responsibilities extend far beyond signing contracts. He's the driving force behind the show, overseeing everything from talent acquisition to marketing strategies and financial management.
