Chicago firefighter's funeral rescheduled after widow's surprise labor

Tragedy struck the Chicago Fire Department when 32-year-old firefighter Michael Altman perished in a Rogers Park blaze, leaving behind his pregnant widow. Just as his funeral was set to take place, fate dealt another blow when Altman's wife unexpectedly gave birth to a baby girl.

Services moved to tuesday amid family's joy and grief

As the community reels from the devastating loss, the Altman family will now hold the funeral service on Tuesday at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home in Oak Lawn. The ceremony, by invitation only, will be followed by a private interment at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Alsip.

In a poignant display of solidarity, supporters are encouraged to line the funeral procession route from the 103rd Street and Cicero Avenue to the cemetery, paying tribute to the fallen hero.
