Los Angeles Police are investigating a series of catalytic converter thefts in the Los Feliz area that began early Friday morning. Two suspects have been arrested, while two others remain at large after a high-speed chase that ended in a crash.

Officers responded to a report of suspects removing a catalytic converter from a parked vehicle near Rodney Drive and Los Feliz Boulevard around 3:40 a.m. Witnesses reported seeing the suspects flee in an unidentified vehicle. A brief pursuit ensued, culminating in a crash when the suspects lost control.

Arrested at the scene were Elvin Ferrera, 23, from Whittier, and a 17-year-old from Huntington Park. Both arrested individuals were hospitalized with injuries sustained during the crash. Their current condition remains undisclosed.

During the investigation, police recovered five additional catalytic converters from the suspect vehicle. LAPD officials note a noticeable increase in these thefts this year, particularly targeting vehicles with Toyota sedans. They advise vehicle owners to park in well-lit areas or, when possible, off the street.
