South florida woman released on bond after unlicensed recovery home raid

A South Florida woman accused of running an unlicensed post-surgery recovery home in Miami-Dade county has been released from jail after posting a $2,500 bond.

Authorities discovered the alleged illegal operation after an anonymous tip led detectives to the property.

Yordanka Ozabala Garcia, 50, was taken into custody following multiple 'trash pulls' that uncovered biohazardous waste, according to an arrest report.

During a subsequent search warrant execution on April 23, investigators found more medical waste inside the home, including in the kitchen, as well as in trash bags and county-issued garbage bins outside.

Garcia reportedly lacked proper biohazard disposal measures and didn't have authorized medical waste containers, warning labels, or a contract with a licensed company.

At the time of her arrest, 11 patients were present in the home, prompting concerns over the safety and well-being of those in her care.
