Rogue hospital worker charged with stealing $2.5 million in medical supplies

A former surgical technician in Camden, New Jersey, has been accused of a brazen theft that left a hospital reeling.

Marci staub, 44, impersonated a medical vendor and sold stolen supplies to a south carolina company.

After a six-month investigation, Staub was charged with theft, receiving stolen property and more, Camden County Prosecutor Grace MacAulay announced Monday.

According to officials, Staub worked at Cooper University Hospital, where surveillance footage captured her quietly leaving work with empty bags and returning with them filled with $2.5 million worth of medical devices and supplies.

Financial records showed Staub made over $427,000 from the illicit sales, the prosecutor's office said.

Staub was arrested in December and terminated from her position after attempting to leave the hospital with stolen items.
