Lincoln park businesses targeted in early morning burglary spree

Two businesses in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood were hit with brazen break-ins early Monday, leaving shop owners grappling with shattered windows and stolen merchandise.

A quick two-door operation

Police responded to calls at Smoke Dreams, a smoke shop at 2527 N. Lincoln Ave., where the front door had been forcibly breached. Just a few doors northwest, at the Irish Eyes bar, 2519 N. Lincoln Ave., similar damage – broken glass – was evident. Initial reports suggest a coordinated effort.

The loot – and the getaway

According to authorities, three unidentified men targeted the establishments, smashing through the doors and making off with an undisclosed amount of cash and goods. A black sedan was spotted speeding northwest on Lincoln Avenue following the incidents – a common tactic, no doubt, to quickly disappear into the city's dense traffic.
