Hell's kitchen heist foiled: luxury cars damaged in chaotic garage attempt
A brazen attempt to steal four luxury vehicles in Hell's Kitchen went spectacularly sideways early Sunday morning, culminating in a high-speed crash and leaving a trail of damaged metal and unanswered questions. The incident, which unfolded at the Park Right garage on West 43rd Street, involved a group of men and a series of increasingly desperate maneuvers that ultimately ended with a wrecked Range Rover and a blue sports car embedded in a bus stop.
The initial breach and the parking attendants' response
According to NYPD officials, between four and five individuals targeted the garage just before 6:00 a.m. Their objective: four high-end cars. However, vigilant parking attendants swiftly recognized the intrusion and initiated the garage's security protocol, closing the main doors. But the would-be thieves were not easily deterred; one individual managed to force his way out in a stolen vehicle, initiating a chaotic sequence of events.
What followed was a display of reckless driving, witnessed by at least one resident of the area. “The streets were kinda empty, then all of a sudden I saw a car whiz by,” recounted a nearby resident. “Gotta be about 40, 50 miles an hour going down the street. My biggest concern was people…someone's gonna get hurt.” The speed was clearly a factor, as the stolen car careened approximately a block before colliding with a metal pole and, alarmingly, a bus stop.
