Brazen nj heist: dodge daytona vanishes, suspects cross state line
Washington Township, NJ – A brazen daylight theft has authorities scrambling after a red 2019 Dodge Charger Daytona was stolen from a driveway early Saturday morning. The incident, captured on surveillance video, reveals a meticulously planned operation involving masked suspects and a swift getaway across state lines.
The mechanics of the crime
Just after 3:15 a.m. on March 14th, two individuals, clad in gloves and sweatshirts, targeted a home on Doe Court, near Hurffville Elementary School. One suspect, wielding a Glock handgun with an extended magazine, acted as a lookout, while the other shattered the rear passenger window to gain entry. The vehicle was then skillfully pushed across the street to a waiting location where two other stolen vehicles – a Dodge and an Acura – were positioned, suggesting a coordinated effort.
What’s particularly striking is the speed and precision with which the theft was executed. The Dodge Charger Daytona, a 392 Scat Pack trim model boasting tinted windows, black wheels, a performance hood, and Daytona badging, was started and driven away. Less than ten minutes later, license plate readers tracked the stolen vehicle heading through the Five Points intersection, accompanied by one of the accomplice cars, before crossing the Walt Whitman Bridge into Philadelphia.

The rising tide of high-performance vehicle theft
This incident highlights a growing concern within the region: the targeted theft of high-performance vehicles. The Washington Township Police Department is urging owners of such vehicles to take preventative measures, including parking in garages, utilizing steering wheel locks, and keeping key fobs away from entryways. The brazen nature of this theft, coupled with the quick crossing of state lines, points to a potentially organized criminal network specializing in vehicle theft.
Detective Matt Franchi of the Washington Township Police Department is leading the investigation and is asking for the public's assistance. Anyone with information is urged to contact him directly at 856-589-0330 ext. 1143. The value of the stolen Charger Daytona, coupled with the escalating frequency of similar incidents, underscores the need for increased vigilance and collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies across state borders.
