Romania, bulgaria and greece implement traffic restrictions ahead of easter

As Easter approaches, a trio of Eastern European nations are restricting heavy vehicle traffic to ease congestion and promote safer travel.

Romanian restrictions

Starting Thursday, April 9, vehicles over 7.5 tonnes will face limitations on key national roads and routes to popular tourist destinations. These restrictions will continue through Monday, April 13, with varying times each day.

Bulgarian restrictions

Bulgaria is also imposing curbs on heavy trucks, targeting vehicles over 12 tonnes on major highways and the I-1 national road in the Blagoevgrad region. These restrictions will take effect on Thursday, Friday and Monday this week, respectively, with specific timeframes applying each day.

Greek restrictions

Greece has implemented a broader ban, affecting all vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, including cars with trailers. These restrictions will be in place at various times throughout the Easter weekend, spanning Thursday to Tuesday next week.
