Rock county man arrested after 47-year-old woman found dead in luverne home

A 61-year-old man in Luverne, Minnesota is in custody after a gruesome discovery Friday evening.

Suspect turns himself in

According to the Rock County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a welfare check at a residence just after 8pm, following a call from a woman who said her sister had been threatened by a man via text message. The suspect, a 61-year-old male, had made a 911 call before officers arrived, stating he wanted to turn himself in but refused to disclose his location.

Police traced the call and found the man hiding near 408 S. Kiss Ave, leading to his swift arrest and booking at the Nobles County Jail pending formal charges.

The victim, identified as 47-year-old Janelle Lea Carlson, was found deceased inside the home. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of her death.
